My crowning achievement is having the *pop* solo while singing Lollipop at school

Hey there. Yes the title of this post is true.

Right now I'm listening to this playlist and loving it. Girl groups from the sixties are wonderful. They make me wanna start my group with matching outfits and kick ass harmonies. Oh! and synchronized dance moves that involve doing various creative arm motions. Ahhhh a girl can dream. Anyways, I have done so more paintings so I thought I would share them as well. OHHH and also something else exciting is happening soon. I AM GOING TO SEE ARCTIC FUCKING MONKEYS!!!!! AHHHHHHHH THEY ARE SO AMAZING.

SOOo yaaaa. ARCTIC MONKEYS.

ARCTIC MONKEYS
ARCTIC MONKEYSSSSS

Other than that I think I'm done sharing.

A Collection

Hell-ooo.

As I have said before, I have a lot of love for t-shirts. As a result of this I have quite a few t-shirts. I decided to take pictures of them instead of drawing them because I am lazy and I have a new camera that I don't really know how to use.

Yes, they are mostly band shirts... :)

That's all folks.

T-Shirt list:

  • Raccoon Shirt - thrift store
  • Bastille Band Shirt - concert
  • Thor Shirt - HMV
  • Jake Bugg Shirt - concert
  • Skeleton Shirt - painted for a halloween costume
  • Cat Amigos Shirt - Winners
  • Brooklyn Shirt - thrift store
  • Alt-J - concert

MORE ELVES

Hello hello.

I am still obsessed with the elves from Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. I also really like the movie Elf and Dobby. There are so many different kinds of elves!! They don't have much in common either. Ooohh! I just remembered another elf, Slannen from Ella Enchanted. This post is about Thranduil though. Not about Buddy or Dobby or Slannen or even Legolas. Thranduil was my favourite character in The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug. He's such a drama queen. Also he has fabulous eyebrows.

I like this drawing better than my last one.

ELVES FOREVER!

P.S. You should listen to this song by Ed Sheeran from The Hobbit soundtrack. It is like listening to magic.

YOU KNOW IT WHEN YOU SEE IT

Yo!

I saw Capital Cities on Monday and they were great! I don't think I've ever been happier at a concert. It was the last show for the band so they played for a really long time and then did a DJ session after. I danced like crazy and even smacked someone in the head (accidentally). It was a great night. So that's what I'm saying my obsession was today. The happiest band in the world.

I don't have much to say about this drawing... You can decide what it is for yourself.

Why see the world when you've got the beach?

Holla!

In today's episode of Hanna's obsession I will be sharing two or maybe three things that I love. They are, Frank Ocean, The Bling Ring and Sofia Coppola. I wanted to do this post about Frank Ocean mainly, but I couldn't think of anything to draw that would fit into my style and then I remembered that one of his songs is in the end of the movie The Bling Ring and voila I had an idea. The Bling Ring is about a group of teenagers that steal from a whole bunch of celebrities houses by just walking into their unlocked houses. Emma Watson is amazing in this movie because she is just the opposite of herself in every way. Also Sofia Coppola's movies are always really beautiful to look at. Now onto why Frank Ocean is awesome. I am not actually sure why I like him. It's weird because he is an R&B type singer, and if you have seen any of my other posts you will know that I like alternative, British music. I just can't explain why I like him. I don't know!

So there it is. Hooray!

Have a joyous evening! I'm going to see Capital Cities in concert! AHHH!

SKULLS

Hey there folks!

I bet you are wondering what I am obsessed with today. No, it's not real skulls or even drawing of skulls. It is one of the new songs from Bastille. I was thinking earlier today that I can't do this because I did my very first post about Bastille, but then I remembered, it's my own darn blog and I can do whatever I want. I am still obsessed with Bastille and there is nothing that can stop me. I like this song a lot and you should listen to it. Yes, I mean you!

I chose to do a sugar skull because of the line "a match is our only light, it's day of the dead, I'm Indiana Jones here" and also I really like what sugar skulls look like. It's lovely when two things you love come together and make something even better.

Well that's it for today.

Triangles are my favourite shape

Bonjour!

By the title of this blog post you might think that I am going to talk about my favourite geometric shape, but that is not the case! Although I do love triangles and both of my pieces for my sculpture class are made up of only triangles....  Anyways, I'm going to talk about one of my favourite bands! Alt-J! Hip hip hooray! They are a band from Leeds, England and they play weird, alternative, experimental music that is wonderful. The lead singer, Joe Newman, doesn't really sound like he is saying actual words so singing along is kind of difficult. I went to an Alt-J concert and my friend Kira has a hilarious video of the audience trying to sing along with the songs and failing miserably. It was such an awesome concert though. It was raining and thundering and lightninging which made everything feel very dramatic. Also I should mention that the alt-j is the keyboard shortcut for the delta symbol, which is a triangle.

This is actually just a page from my sketchbook while I was listening to an Alt-J concert on youtube. It's not particularly clear that it is about Alt-J, but the intention was there!

I did cartwheels in your honor.

Yo yo yo!

Florence and the Machine. I love Florence and the Machine so so so so much. I aspire to one day be as amazing and magical as Florence Welch. It is my life goal. If that is unattainable then I would like to see her in concert. Guess what I'm doing right now. Watching interviews with Florence Welch. Guess what I did yesterday. Watched a Florence and the Machine concert on youtube. She's just the bomb. I can't even put into words why. She just is.

So there you go. A page from my sketchbook done in sharpie and acrylic paint.

Have a great day.

P.S. I obviously need to put some links to my favourite songs so here you go. Over the Love and Only If For A Night

Everything is Embarrassing...

Yo!

When I came up with this blog idea I didn't know what direction it would take me in, but the more I think about it, the more it becomes about music. So yes I did another drawing of a musician. This time it is the super cool, Sky Ferreira. I first heard about her through Nylon magazine or possibly the Rookie Yearbook interview with her. I can't remember! I love her 80's revival and she has a really cool voice. Blah blah blah I'm obsessed with her and I need to buy her new album. There's this quote by John Green that I find becomes more accurate each day of my life, it goes, "some people have lives and some people have music". How true this is. I should do a post about John Green someday soon. Any who, here's the picture.

I think I made her kind of look like a Tim Burton character, so I am quite pleased with this. And yes, adults suck and then you become one. I'm in the transition and it's not pretty.

Here's a few links to my favourite songs by Sky Ferreira: Everything is Embarrassing and Sad Dream

The Ginger

Yo!

Today I would like to talk about another one of my favourite singers, Ed Sheeran. Yes, I only listen to British music. My obsession with Ed Sheeran started on a cloudy September 7th in 2012 when I saw his concert. It was a spur of the moment decision to go, meaning that we had to get tickets from a scalper, and it was terrifying. It was all worth it in the end because it was probably the best concert I have ever been to. I would love to see him again.

These are lyrics from his song A Team. I'm not sure if I like this painting, but it will have to do for today.

Do I Wanna Know

Hoy hoy!

I would like to take a moment to appreciate the Arctic Monkeys, especially since a year ago I did not. I have only started listening to them recently, but damn, they rock. My friend Kira is to thank/blame for this obsession because she was the one that said "Hanna, you must listen to this band" and now here I am professing my love in blog form. So that's something. Also the lead singer, Alex Turner, is hotttt.

I made this by: drawing a sketch, then painting it in using watercolours, then going over some areas with sharpie to define the line and then finally messing with it in Photoshop.

Thanks for letting me fangirl for a little bit. It's nice of you.

Welcome to my world I guess...

Hello!

This is the very first post on my blog so I might as well tell you what it will be about. Lately I have been wanting to share my drawing and painting and other various artistic endeavors with a wider audience, but just putting random pictures seemed boring, so I came up with an idea...

The idea is this: Do a drawing/painting everyday (hopefully) about something I am obsessed with at that moment. You might thinking, "Hanna, how can you possibly be have something new to draw every day? Are you really obsessed with that many things? Are you crazy?" and the answer, of course, is YES! And so without further ado, here is my first drawing.

This is my rendition of Laura Palmer from Twin Peaks. I have never seen this show, but there is a song by my favourite band of the moment Bastille and it is amazing. I LOVE this band and this is a tribute to them.

If you're reading this, THANK YOU!
Hanna
